Local newspaper makes announcement.
The Daily Commercial Newspaper of Leesburg, Florida printed an article on Saturday, October 24, 2009 titled, “Local group wins award”. The article stated as follows: Local group wins award. Eustis – The Knights of Columbus Council 8120 of Eustis has earned the distinction of Double Star Council for the 2008 – 2009 fraternal year. The organization’s headquarters in New Haven, Conn., made the announcement. The award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment, reaching 200 percent of quota and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program, and sponsorship of service oriented activities. The award was presented to the membership by District Deputy Robert Heitzman at a special ceremony held Oct. 13, 2009. “Receiving the Double Star Council Award is quite an honor for us. We’re extremely proud of this accomplishment,” proclaimed Grand Knight Chet Sedke, head of the local council. Council 8120 helps to support St. Vincent DePaul Society, Sunrise ARC, Special Olympic of Lake County and many more charities.
