On October 24, 2009, the Diocese of Palm Beach celebrated the Closing of their 25th Anniversary as a Diocese with a Mass that took place at the Palm Beach Convention Center.

The Ceremony began with a procession that was led by 40 Sir Knights from several Assemblies throughout the Diocese, including the Father Andrew Dougherty Assembly #155, Loyola of the Palm Beaches Assembly #2003 and Our Lady Queen of Peace Assembly #2709. They were followed by representation from each of the 50 Parishes and 3 Missions within the Palm Beach Diocese, which included various Church organizations from each Parish as well as representation from several K of C Councils. Following the parishes, the procession of clergy from every Parish in the Diocese as well as visiting clergy filed into the Convention Center. This represented over 200 priests and religious in attendance.

The procession concluded with the entrance of the Honored Concelebrants:
• Most Reverend John C. Favalora, Archbishop of Miami
• Most Reverend John Noonan, Auxiliary Bishop of Miami
• Most Reverend Thomas V. Daily, Retired Bishop of Brooklyn and Founding Bishop of the Palm Beach Diocese

The procession ended with the entrance of the Primary Celebrant, Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito, Bishop of Palm Beach.

The Mass was a joyful celebration of the Diocese 25th Anniversary. The Masters of Ceremonies were Rev. Brian G. King, Rev. Kevin Nelson, Rev. Andrew Brierley and Rev. Francisco Osorio and the Ministers at the Altar were the Seminarians of the Diocese of Palm Beach. It showed the diversity of the Diocese through the celebration of the Mass in four languages, English, Spanish, Creole and Vietnamese. The music showed this same diversity, using the same four languages in both music and dance. The Music and Dance were performed by 18 different Parish Music Ministries from the Diocese.

The Anniversary Mass was held exactly 25 years to the day of the Diocese formation on October 24, 1984. The joy and happiness was quite evident among the several thousand people in attendance and as stated by Bishop Barbarito “it is not just a 25 year celebration of the Diocese of Palm Beach but a celebration of 25 years as Eucharistic people of the Diocese”.
